Mindful Monday: Mordecai, Chargers and Silence

  • by

Today was an especially busy day which was a bit unfortunate as this cold/flu madness has now set up shop in my chest. It is not pretty folks. Anyway, my shift partner, on the road as well as in many crazy conversations is a very good guy. Well he was until he doubted the two door Charger and chastised me for not being “hip.” When telling him I didn’t know who Mordecai and Rigby was, he just looked at me and said, “You’re not hip at all!” The way he said it made me laugh so hard! Coughing fit and feeling like chest caved in aside, it was worth it. While he was explaining to the Queen of Unhip, cool or couth, depending on who you ask and how congested I am, I felt a shift and a release in something else, nothing to do with him. Recently I shared something with others I thought would be helpful. It was not. A definite mistake on my part. I was hurt by how it was handled and was trying to figure out what to do. The answer today? Leave it alone. I’ve clarified as much as I could and just needed the reminder that when people care about you, they will explain, try to clear the air or just let it roll because they know the heart and/or intent of the person. So without malice or offense, I can leave it and them alone, but just be mindful in the future, while still working with. Silence can be golden and unhip-ness, hilariously helpful.
